How it works - The catalytic converter-core technology

The catalytic converter changes harmful pollution gases such as hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxide into harmless emissions of carbon dioxide and water vapor.

The actual catalyst is a precious metal coating which is applied to a ceramic or metal substrate which looks similar to a honeycomb. The substrate has a multi-channel structure which provide a very high surface area (similar in size to two football fields).
