Why Replacing Lambda Sensors ?

Lambda sensors are subject to constant wear, tear and ageing.

Wear can be caused by:

  • Corrosion
  • Mechanical damage
  • The use of leaded fuel
  • Too high temperature (overheated)
  • Silicone contamination due to additives
  • Soot contamination (failure of other sensors)
  • Too high oil consumption
  • Gasket failure
  • Broken wires
  • Oxidation at connector side

Guidelines for Identifying Lambda Sensor Problems

Sensor Tip Discoloration... What does it mean?

When replacing the Lambda Sensor, check for other Emission System failures.

Walker recommends to check the Lambda Sensor every 30.000 km or yearly. Replace the old Lambda Sensor whenever a catalytic converter is replaced.
